Slovenia Road Trip | Travel Photography

Slovenia is one of the most surprising places I’ve visited. It was never really on my travel list, but on one of my numerous trips to Budapest, a local friend recommended I visit Kranjska Gora, a teeny mountain village in the northwest corner of the country, near the border where Slovenia, Italy, and Austria all converge. The area has a ton of beautiful bike trails and since I love biking, I was SOLD. My friend was kind enough to lend me her car and a bike, so I drove solo from Budapest, through Slovenia to this little hidden gem of an area.

I found a little AirBnB on the border and spent a few days exploring the area on my borrowed mountain bike. (Ironically, the car broke down and spent a few day at the mechanics, so THANK GOODNESS I had a bike!)  It’s kinda cool to be able to say I’ve biked from Slovenia to Italy and Austria (even though it was only a few miles!). The mountainous terrain proved a lot more difficult than the flat roads I am used to in Minneapolis, but biking to beautiful glacial lakes was something out of a dream. On the way back to Budapest, I also visited Lake Bled and Lake Bohinj (by car!), which were incredible. I highly recommend a visit to this beautiful area. Just a few of my favorite film photos below:
