Ashley & Joshua were married on a chilly fall day in rural southwest Minnesota. We started the day at Ashley’s parent’s farm house, where the girls prepped for the big day. Ashley wore her mother’s refashioned wedding dress from the 1980s, which was such a sentimental, beautiful touch. In fact, the entire day was filled with unique details, including Grandpa’s old classic Ford, the cake baked by Grandma and more. Not only that, but Ashley, Joshua and their families are such kind, genuine people. From the moment we stepped in the front door, we were treated like family, and everyone was so sweet and caring throughout the day. Ashley & Joshua, I wish you a lifetime of happiness! Enjoy the preview!
I have a confession to make! It’s been a really, really long time (as in 2011) since I’ve blogged one of Whitney’s weddings. Yes, Whitney is out there, busy as a bee shooting weddings! We’ve both had jam-packed summers & falls, filled to the brim with gorgeous weddings. In fact, we’ve been so busy that blogging sometimes takes a back seat. However, I’m just dying to share this one. You may have noticed, that I love traveling! So when one of our Minneapolis brides informed us that one of her bridesmaids was getting married at a barn in Vermont, we cheerfully informed her that we travel anywhere! I mean, a barn wedding in the rolling hills of Vermont with one of the sweetest couples you’ll ever meet? Yeah, it doesn’t get much better than that! :) Maggie & Vinny booked Whitney for their wedding, but it turned out that I had that weekend free (rare for October!!), so how could I turn down being a part of this day as Whitney’s second shooter?
So, Whitney and I boarded a plane headed for Boston, rented a car, and navigated to New Hampshire (where the ceremony took place) & Vemont (home of the Alerin Barn) for Maggie & Vinny’s big day! Fall in Vermont? Perfect time to go!! Maggie & Vinny’s day could not have been more perfect, except for one minor detail. It rained. No, it really rained. It was overcast, and dreary, and by some stroke of luck, the skies cleared and we managed to sneak out for portraits between bursts of rain. For some couples this would’ve been less-than-ideal, but for Maggie & Vinny, the day was all about celebration, and I can honestly say Maggie was one of the most jubilant brides I have ever seen. She was smiling ear to ear all day and it seemed as though she could’ve cared less about the weather. Perfect example of how one’s perspective can manifest into everything around them. Because of Maggie & Vinny, the guests were all smiles, and it was one big party. Whitney and I had such an amazing time capturing their day and we can’t wait to see Maggie & Vinny and Maggie’s family in a couple weeks for a friend’s wedding in Minneapolis!
Enjoy a few of our favorite images from this beautiful day!
From the second Madeline walked in the door of my studio, planner and vision in tow, I have been counting down the days to Madeline & Brian’s wedding! I’ve gotten to know this couple over the past year and learned their story, and although their wedding was seriously overflowing with gorgeous details, this was even more so about the commitment they are making to each other, which has been a decade in the making. M&B have been through so much together, have stood by each other’s sides, and have so much more yet to come.
Madeline herself is in the bridal industry, so only the best of the best vendors would do for their big day! Laura Mullen Event Design did an amazing job from start to finish and ensured this wedding went off without a hitch! Of course, I also have to mention Madeline’s gown. I mean, seriously ladies, I coudld’ve done an entire blog post with just images of Madeline looking fabulous. Her custom Oscar de la Renta gown was literally, the perfect choice, and her entire look was styled to perfection thanks to the amazing ladies (her coworkers!) at l’atelier couture. There are too many fantastic vendors thank them all, but seriously… all top notch! I am so lucky to work with such fabulous couples and vendors who are passionate about what they do!! I also wanted to recognize Madeline’s mother for all she did! From what I hear, she had a big hand in the gorgeousness that is this wedding, and also took on many projects, like sewing the runners for all the tables, and the pillows that were used for decor. All these details, and the incorporation of Brian’s love for fishing (the custom made bow ties, and the fishing lures on the butler passed hors d’oeuvres) made this event so personal. I literally could’ve posted hundreds more images!! Thanks to everyone involved, especially this beautiful couple! I am beyond honored to have been a part of your day.

Thanks also to my talented, beautiful, fun friends, Melissa and Jill for shooting this wedding with me!
Emily & Matthew are one of the funnest, spunkiest (yes, I did just use that word!), most vibrant couples I’ve ever met. They reside in San Fran and planned their wedding from afar, so I didn’t get to meet Emily right away (or Matthew until the day of the wedding!), but I from our very first conversation on the phone, I was really excited about their big day and loved how much they love each other. Emily and Matthew, along with their amazing coordinator, Kirsten of Fab Event Design, planned a bright, fun, bold, graphic celebration and it was just E&M 110%. There were so many unique details (can we talk about the ribbon strung place cards that Kirsten and her crew slaved over for hours?!) and sweet moments throughout this day. I was in love with their adorable first look, and I was in tears during the first dance (and immediately became obsessed with their song!).
Huge thanks and gratitude to my friend Melissa for shooting this wedding with me and again to Fab Event Design, Pearls and Lace, Jeune Lune, and all the other top-notch vendors that made this day so perfect. Enjoy a few of my favorite images.
