REVAMP!

I’m so over-the-moon excited to announce the arrival of my newly revamped website!! Welcome new visitors! I’m so happy you’re here to check it out! Sharing my work with the world is always a labor of love. I agonize over every little detail and of course narrowing the hundreds of amazing weddings and sessions I’ve photographed into a portfolio of only a few dozen images is a challenge, to say the least! For the launch of my new website, I enlisted the help of Alison at Tiny Blue Orange. Alison is a true talent- I could not possibly be happier with her and the all the work she did for me. Alison is a creative genius and took my visions and arranged them into an updated website that I’m really proud to share with the world! Thank you Alison!!

Be sure to browse through the gorgeous new galleries, featuring some of my favorite recent weddings and sessions. Also notice the convenient new ‘Pin it’ badge on all my blog images and many other fun updates throughout the site! I espeically love the new, more welcoming home page! Hello! Hooray!

Lastly, but certainly not least, please stop by and check out my brand new Beauty & Boudoir site. I’ve been shooting boudoir sessions for several years, and it’s truly time to have a website dedicated to this important part of my work. It’s pretty, romantic and feminine- everything I hope beauty & boudoir sessions to be. I hope you love it!! I would also be so overjoyed if you followed me and my new adventure on Facebook too!

Enjoy my friends, and thank you for your continued support, love and encouragement!

COZY & CASUAL EDITORIAL SHOOT

I recently had the opportunity to collaborate on a styled shoot with some amazing local talent. This shoot started as a spark of creative inspiration between the stylist and myself. We wanted to use soft corals and mint as the loose basis of our palette with accents of cream and gold. We enlisted the help of an incredible florist to bring help bring our vision to life. Jackie took it to another level and added so much texture and depth to the styling. The models looked extra perfect thanks to the talent of our makeup artist, Justine. I am so proud of how this shoot turned out. Thank you, thank you, thank you x infinity to the fabulous people involved for bringing this collaboration to life:
Styling: Jesi Hoolihan

CALIFORNIA DREAMING | DEATH VALLEY

If you follow me on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter, you may have noticed that I traveled to California at the end of January with my bestie!  And, by “noticed,” I mean “been bombarded by a continuos, never-ending slew of pictures in your newsfeed.” My apologies- I couldn’t help myself.  This trip was a photographer’s dream.  We flew into Los Angeles, drove to Mojave, Red Rock, Death Valley National Park, Rhyolite Nevada, back to Death Valley, Amboy (via Route 66), Palm Springs, Joshua Tree, Santa Clarita, Santa Barbara, Santa Monica, and back to LA. In that order!  I traveled light, carrying only my favorite medium format film camera, 10 rolls of film, and my iPhone 5.  I packed light too- as you may notice by the one jacket, one scarf, one pair of sneakers, and several pairs of yoga pants below!  This trip was so refreshing.  It was one of the most active trips I’ve taken.  For all the driving we did, we did equal amounts of hiking and other outdoor activities.  We also ate well (well meaning healthfully).  Again, my Insta feed gives me away; I’m a very health conscious vegan/vegetarian eater, but on the typical vacation I’d indulge.  At every single meal.  I certainly indulged on this vacation, but in a different way.  We dined on fresh, local produce and ate primarily vegan meals.  We drank freshly made juice on several occasions!  Usually when I return home from a vacay, I feel like I need a detox, but after this I felt light as air.

If you ever get a chance to go to Death Valley, please take it.  I think you’ll be amazed by the fantastic hiking, gorgeous vistas, perfect temps (in January!), straight-outta-a-video-game roads, and peacefulness.  This entire trip was inspired by a single pic on a friend’s Instagram feed.  The power of social media!  Pretty amazing to think that we never would’ve thought to visit Death Valley if not for that one picture.

Most of these images were captured on film, but I snuck in several iPhone pics (including a selfie)!  This was my first trip with my newly upgraded iPhone 5 and the camera is a HUGE improvement from the last model, so I found myself taking A LOT more phone pics than usual.  I also learned of the panorama feature a few days into the trip.  I’ll spare you a blog post of 2,916 panoramas, but suffice it to say, I almost filled my brand new phone.  Next week I’ll share images from Palm Springs and Joshua Tree.  Enjoy!!

Kelsy McCartney - Laura!!! These images are STUNNING!! Makes me want to visit Death Valley, like, tomorrow!! What a gorgeous trip :) Can’t wait to see the rest!

Butch McCartney - Laura! These images make me want to get out and shoot! This post is Awesome!!!

Amanda - Wow Laura! These photos are incredible. I love the artistic modern flair you gave what could have been the traditional ‘landscape’ photography photos. Continue the great work – love reading your blog!

Tiffany Abruzzo - These pics are awesome! Love the colors of the landscapes, just gorgeous!
