Apostle Island | Travel Photography

I recently road tripped to Bayfield/Madeline Island, Wisconsin with a group of girlfriends for a short overnight trip just to get out of the city and enjoy nature!  We wanted to go kayaking around the beautiful Apostle Islands and explore the area.  On a rare Saturday off, we loaded up a car and headed up north.  Shortly after arriving in Bayfield, we stopped for lunch and asked the cook what we should do with the remainder of the day. She encouraged us to go to Madeline Island via ferry and rent mopeds to cruise around the island, so off we went.  At the moped shop we met a Bulgarian guy, and I surprised him with my (very limited) Bulgarian-speaking skills and very Bulgarian name! ;)  We ended up hanging with out with Alex (the Bulgarian) and had a fun day on the island.  We hiked in Big Bay State Park and skipped rocks on the lake. After dinner and many drinks at the coolest bar, we took the last ferry back to the mainland, and rested up for our all day kayak expedition the next day with Lost Creek Adventures.  Though the kayak adventure didn’t go as planned (and I got super sea sick), due to rough waters and wind, we still had an amazing day.  I love being up north!
